Sarah Jones is exploring a subject that’s “not typically talked about:” the intercourse trade. “Promote/Purchase/Date,” an adaptation of the Tony Award-winning performer, author, comic, and activist’s one-woman present, sees the multi-hyphenate asking if intercourse work is “empowering [or] exploitation.” A brand new trailer has dropped for what Jones describes as her “unorthodoc,” a doc/narrative hybrid.
“The actual drawback is Sarah doesn’t know what she actually believes,” we’re advised within the spot. As Jones admits, “I didn’t notice I had my very own fact to unpack.”
“As a girl and lady of colour specifically, I’ve at all times needed to inform tales that almost all movies — AKA movies created by and centered on cishet white dudes — don’t, particularly once they can convey probably the most marginalized voices to the middle,” Jones advised us. She continued, “I need folks to understand how a lot the identical questions on the core of the movie — about cash, intercourse, race, and energy — are far more related to all of our lives, no matter gender, race, or class standing, than we might notice. I need us all to ask deeper questions on what freedom and decisions and equality actually seem like in a society like ours.”
Counting Meryl Streep amongst its exec producers, “Promote/Purchase/Date” hits theaters October 14 and VOD November 8.
