The world of rock has misplaced a legend.
Jeff Beck, the British guitarist who served as a member of the Yardbirds, died on Jan. 10, per an announcement shared to his Instagram Jan. 11. He was 78.
“On behalf of his household, it’s with deep and profound disappointment that we share the information of Jeff Beck’s passing,” the message learn. “After immediately contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully handed away yesterday.”
Information of Jeff’s dying has garnered tribute statements from many within the remark part—together with Rod Stewart, who was the vocalist of the Jeff Beck Group, which the late legend fashioned in 1967 after parting methods from the Yardbirds, per Selection.
“Jeff Beck was on one other planet,” Rod wrote. “He took me and Ronnie Wooden to the USA within the late 60s in his band the Jeff Beck Group and we’ve not appeared again since.”
Reflecting on the kind of musician Jeff was, Rod applauded him for his onstage skills.
