With their new album So A lot (for) Stardust lower than two months away, Fall Out Boy are heralding its arrival with the second single, “Heartbreak Feels So Good.” The tune comes with a music video by which FOB attempt to prank kidnap Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo.
“Heartbreak Feels So Good” opens with darkish synths and excessive, muted guitars. “We might cry a little bit, cry rather a lot,” vocalist Patrick Stump sings, “Don’t cease dancing, don’t dare cease/ We’ll cry later, or cry now/ You realize it’s heartbreak.”
Within the video, directed by Whitey McConnaughy, the heartbreak is of a prank that by no means fairly materializes. The (clearly scripted) setup finds Fall Out Boy on a telephone name with their “Hella Mega Tour” mate, Cuomo, prepping a staged kidnapping. Cuomo’s telephone rings (his ringtone is the guitar riff to “Undone – The Sweater Track”), and the Weezer frontman asks, “You’re gonna soar out of a van and seize me or one thing?” He provides, “I’m not actually positive about this.”
“Dude, you wrote ‘Africa,’ you’re going to be nice,” bassist Pete Wentz replies. However the plot falls aside when Cuomo refuses to get into the van (“Fuck these guys,” he says), and after Weezer followers foil the kidnapping, Fall Out Boy are on the run. Test it out beneath.
So A lot (for) Stardust arrives March twenty fourth and pre-orders are ongoing.
